8 Passenger Van Rentals in Toronto
Eight seats and four bags, from $69.99 a day. It has been our most-booked vehicle for the past decade, and it is the one that runs out first on long weekends.
Read this before you book: your own insurance is required
We do not sell insurance on eight-passenger vans. Not our collision damage waiver, and credit card coverage does not qualify either — card coverage is collision only, and the part that matters on a vehicle carrying eight people is liability. To rent this van you need your own automobile policy with at least $1,000,000 in liability that transfers to a rental, and we need your insurer's written confirmation before we release it. Your insurer can usually email that in a few minutes. We put this first because it is the one thing that turns people away at the counter, and we would rather you knew it from your phone.
What it costs
From $69.99 a day plus HST. We rent for a minimum of 4 days, so the shortest booking is four days — roughly $280 plus HST before extras. That includes 150 km a day, with additional kilometres at 22¢ on vans. Winter tires are optional from November through April at $14.99 a day. A $500 security deposit applies, refundable, because you are on your own insurance.
What you actually get
- 8 seats and 4 bags, through five doors
- A Kia Carnival, Toyota Sienna or Toyota Grand Highlander, or similar — you book the class, not one specific van
- Rear climate control, and a third row that folds if you need to trade a row for luggage
- Sliding doors, so it still opens properly in an underground garage — if seven seats is enough, our seven-seat minivan is $59.99 a day
- Maintenance, servicing and roadside assistance
- Delivery and collection anywhere in the GTA
Eight seats and four bags is the honest trade-off in any eight-seater: fill every seat and the boot behind the third row takes about four carry-ons, not four suitcases. If you are eight people flying out of Pearson with checked bags, fold a seat down and travel seven, or call us on 416-661-6166 and we will tell you straight whether it will fit.
Who rents them
- Families doing the airport run, or heading up to cottage country
- Weddings and funerals, where one vehicle beats a convoy of four
- Sports teams and church groups on a weekend fixture
- Visiting relatives — the classic August booking, and the reason we run out in August
Booking one
Pick your dates and you will see live availability and the exact rate before anything is reserved. Long weekends and the two weeks either side of Christmas go first, often a month ahead. If your dates are fixed, book early rather than hoping; we only run a handful of these.
Common questions
How much is an 8 passenger van rental in Toronto?
At Kaizen Rent A Car an eight-passenger van starts at $69.99 a day plus HST, including 150 km a day. Our minimum rental is four days, so the shortest booking works out to about $280 plus HST before extras.
Do I need my own insurance to rent an 8 passenger van?
Yes. We do not sell insurance on eight-passenger vans or pickup trucks. You need your own automobile policy carrying at least $1,000,000 in liability that transfers to a rental, confirmed in writing by your insurer. Credit card coverage does not qualify, because it covers collision only and not liability.
What vehicle is your 8 passenger van?
A Kia Carnival, Toyota Sienna or Toyota Grand Highlander, or an equivalent. You reserve the class rather than one specific van, and you get whichever is serviced and on the lot for your dates.
How much luggage fits with all eight seats in use?
Four bags. With every seat occupied the space behind the third row holds roughly four carry-on sized bags. Folding the third row down gives you far more room but costs you two seats.
What is the minimum rental period?
Four days. We do not take one, two or three day bookings on any vehicle.
