Minivans
Minivan rental in Toronto
Seven seats and sliding doors, from $59.99 a day. The vehicle that fits three car seats across and still opens in an underground garage.
Read this first: your own insurance is required
We do not sell insurance on minivans — not our collision damage waiver, and credit card coverage does not qualify. Card coverage is collision only, and on a seven-seat vehicle the part that matters is liability. You need your own automobile policy with at least $1,000,000 in liability that transfers to a rental, confirmed in writing by your insurer before we release the van. Most insurers will email that in a few minutes. We say it here rather than at the counter, because it is the one thing that sends people home empty-handed.
What it costs
From $59.99 a day plus HST, with a 4-day minimum — so the shortest booking is about $240 plus HST before extras. That includes 150 km a day, with extra kilometres at 22¢ on vans. Winter tires are optional from November through April at $14.99 a day. The refundable security deposit is $500, because you are on your own policy.
Seven seats, two bags — the honest version
A seven-seat minivan with every seat filled leaves room for about two bags behind the third row. That is the physics of the vehicle, not a Kaizen limitation, and every rental company's seven-seater is the same. If you are seven people with luggage, you have two options: fold the third row and travel five in comfort, or move up to our eight-passenger van at $69.99 a day, which takes four bags. Call 416-661-6166 and describe what you are carrying — we will tell you which one actually fits rather than selling you the bigger one by reflex.
Why people specifically want a minivan
- Sliding doors. The real reason. They open fully in a tight condo parking space, and a child cannot swing one into the car beside you.
- Car seats. Three across the second row on most models, which a seven-seat SUV will not do.
- A low floor. Grandparents and anyone with a bad knee can step in rather than climb up.
- Height clearance. It fits in the 1.9 m garages that a roof-boxed SUV does not.
What comes with it
- A Toyota Sienna, Kia Carnival or similar — you book the class, not one specific van
- All maintenance, servicing and roadside assistance
- Delivery and collection anywhere in the GTA
- Unlimited additional drivers, provided each holds a valid licence
- Monthly rates if you need it for longer — see monthly rentals

Pick your dates and you will see live availability and the exact rate before anything is reserved. We run a small number of these and they go first on long weekends, March break and the fortnight either side of Christmas. If your dates are fixed, book ahead rather than hoping.
Common questions
How much does it cost to rent a minivan in Toronto?
At Kaizen Rent A Car a seven-seat minivan starts at $59.99 a day plus HST, including 150 km a day. The minimum rental is four days, so the shortest booking is roughly $240 plus HST before extras.
Do I need my own insurance to rent a minivan?
Yes. We do not sell insurance on minivans, seven and eight-passenger vans or pickup trucks. You need your own automobile policy with at least $1,000,000 in liability that transfers to a rental, confirmed in writing by your insurer. Credit card coverage does not qualify because it covers collision only, not liability.
How many suitcases fit in a 7 seater minivan?
About two bags behind the third row with all seven seats in use. Folding the third row down gives you a large cargo area but reduces the van to five seats. If you need seven seats and four bags, our eight-passenger van is the vehicle that does it.
Can I fit three car seats in your minivan?
On most of our minivans, yes — three across the second row, which is the main reason families choose a minivan over a seven-seat SUV. Tell us the seat types when you book and we will confirm for the specific vehicle.
What is the minimum minivan rental period?
Four days. We do not take one, two or three day bookings on any vehicle in our fleet.
